The Onten OTN-E921 is a handheld cable tester for RJ45 Ethernet and RJ11/RJ12 telephone lines. It confirms that a cable is wired correctly and carrying signal on every conductor before you spend time chasing a fault at the equipment end. The tester comes in two parts: a main unit and a detachable remote terminator, so a cable already pulled through a wall or ceiling can be checked from both ends by one person. A sequential LED display steps through the pins one at a time, showing continuity along with open circuits, short circuits and miswired or crossed pairs as they occur. The unit runs on a battery, and the compact gray housing fits in a tool pouch. It is the tool for anyone terminating cable regularly — LAN installation in offices and homes, CCTV cabling, and basic structured-cabling diagnostics. A quick test after crimping catches a mis-seated conductor in seconds, which is far faster than tracing a dead port back through a patch panel later. Keep it alongside the crimping tool and test every lead you make before it goes into service.
