The HP 682 Black Original Ink Advantage Cartridge (3YM77AA) is a genuine black cartridge for HP's current DeskJet Ink Advantage and DeskJet Plus Ink Advantage all-in-one printers. It is the workhorse consumable in those machines, handling documents, forms, assignments and everything else that comes out in plain black on ordinary paper. Yield is rated at up to 480 pages of black, measured on the DeskJet Plus Ink Advantage 6000 series, and the pigment-based ink is delivered through 328 print-head nozzles at a drop size of 17.9 pl, giving text firm edges rather than soft, feathered ones. It is a thermal inkjet, standard-capacity cartridge, and it fits the DeskJet Plus Ink Advantage 6075, 6076, 6475 and 6476, the DeskJet Ink Advantage 4175 to 4178 and 4275 to 4278, the 2874 to 2879 and 2774 to 2778 lines, the 2335, 2337, 2338 and 2374 to 2376 models, and the 1218 and 1275. In these newer printers it takes over from HP's older 680 series. Copies and refills of this cartridge circulate widely, so buy the sealed genuine unit. The print head sits inside the cartridge itself, which means poor ink damages the hardware rather than just the page. Keep a spare in the drawer if your office prints daily, and add the HP 682 Tri-color cartridge when colour is needed.
