The UGREEN CM762 is a dual-band USB adapter that brings Wi-Fi 6 to a desktop or laptop still running an older wireless standard. It plugs into a spare USB port and comes up as a network adapter straight away, with no disc to hunt for and no manual driver installation. It is an 802.11ax adapter with an AX900 combined rating, reaching up to 600 Mbps on the 5GHz band and up to 287 Mbps on 2.4GHz, so streaming and video calls can sit on the faster band while 2.4GHz is left for reach. OFDMA, MU-MIMO and beamforming are supported, which keeps latency down when several devices are sharing the same router. Beyond receiving Wi-Fi it also runs Soft AP mode, letting the machine share its connection as a hotspot. The dongle is compact with no external antenna, so it sits flush enough to be left in a laptop permanently. The built-in driver covers Windows 10 and 11 in both x86 and x64 editions. It is a sensible upgrade for a desktop tower parked away from the router, for a shared flat where the 2.4GHz band is crowded with neighbouring networks, and for any machine whose onboard wireless card has started dropping out mid-call. Because it takes its power from the USB port alone, there is nothing extra to plug in on an already busy desk.
