This is the small three-pin cloverleaf cord, widely known as the Mickey Mouse lead, that connects a laptop's external AC adapter to the mains socket. It is the half of a charger people lose first, and the half that quietly frays where the cable meets the plug. The connector is an IEC 60320 C5 cloverleaf three-pin female fitting, terminating in a two-pin Europlug-style mains plug, joined by 18AWG copper in a black PVC jacket. It is rated 250V AC at 2.5A, the load an adapter brick draws, and runs approximately 1-1.5m, long enough to reach a wall socket from a table without pulling the brick off the edge. It fits external chargers from HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer and Asus, along with printers and other equipment using a C5 inlet, so one cord serves a house or office full of mismatched machines. Buy it to replace a damaged lead, to keep a spare in a bag so the adapter can stay at the office, or to complete a charger that arrived without its mains cord. Worth replacing rather than taping up once the jacket has split, particularly where mains supply is uneven and a poor connection gets hot.
