The Corsair 4000D Airflow is an ATX case built around ventilation rather than a sealed decorative front, and that single decision is why it has been the default recommendation for mid-range desktop builds for years. Air comes in at the front and leaves at the back and top, which is what keeps components cool and fans slow. It takes ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards, graphics cards up to 360 mm long and CPU coolers up to 170 mm tall, a set of limits that covers nearly every part short of the very largest. Two 120 mm fans are included, so the case moves air from the moment it is built. Front I/O runs to USB 3.1 Type-C, USB 3.0 and audio, and a tempered glass side panel shows the inside. Cable routing behind the motherboard tray is unusually forgiving, which is how first-time builders end up with a tidy machine instead of a knot. Corsair backs the case with a two-year warranty. It suits a first build or a rebuild in a warm room, where a case that breathes matters more than one that looks sealed and dramatic. Lower internal temperatures mean fans spin slower and the machine stays quieter through a long working day, and the generous clearances leave the build open to a bigger graphics card or a taller cooler later without starting again with a new case.
