The Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition is a single-tower air cooler: the part that replaces the small heatsink supplied with a processor and keeps a mid-range CPU calm and quiet when the work gets long. It is the standard answer for a build that wants lower temperatures and less fan noise without moving to liquid cooling. The tower is rated for processors drawing up to 150 W, which covers most mainstream desktop chips, and it mounts on LGA1700, AM5 and AM4 boards, so it can move across to the next build with you. A 120 mm PWM fan ramps with load rather than running flat out, which is why the machine stays quiet at idle and only becomes audible under sustained work. Height is 159 mm, worth checking against the cooler clearance of your case before ordering. Cooler Master backs it with a two-year warranty. It suits a gaming or work desktop built to a sensible budget, and it earns its keep in a warm room where the cooler from the processor box would spend the whole afternoon at full speed. Air cooling also asks very little of you afterwards: no pump to fail and no liquid to think about, just a fan and a stack of fins that keep working through years of dusty, humid summers. Clear the fins now and again and it stays as quiet as the day it went in.
