Vention CDYB0 USB 2.0 Male to Dual 3.5mm Female Black External Sound Card Adapter (0.15m)

The Vention CDYB0 is a USB external sound card that turns one USB-A port into a separate 3.5mm headphone jack and 3.5mm microphone jack. It is the fix for a laptop that has only a combined headset socket, or none at all, and a headset that ends in two plugs. It is plug and play with no drivers to download: connect it and the machine gains an audio output and a microphone input. It handles 44.1/48kHz audio at 16-bit, which covers calls, classes, music and general desktop use. The cable is 0.15m, short enough to sit against the side of a laptop without dangling, the USB connector is nickel-plated, and aluminium-foil shielding runs through the body to keep noise out of the signal. It weighs 16.2g and comes in black. It suits online classes, meetings and gaming with a standard 3-pole headset and separate mic, and it is often the quickest route back to working audio on a desktop whose front-panel jacks have given up. Being small and light, it travels easily in a laptop bag, which makes it useful for anyone moving between a campus lab, an office desk and home.
